Dear Students,
Happy first day of classes! As we begin this new academic year together, I’d like to offer my heartfelt welcome to our returning students and our newest Gettysburgians, the Class of 2028.
For those returning to campus, you may have already noticed some exciting changes. From our ongoing $2.4 million Wi-Fi upgrade to renovations in Paul Recital Hall, Servo, and other key campus spaces to new game lights at Musselman Stadium, we are actively building our College’s future. Indeed, these developments reflect our commitment to providing you an educational environment that best supports your growth and success.
While much is new at Gettysburg—and we’ll continue to unveil new enhancements in the months ahead—our vision and values remain deeply rooted in the mission of our College.
During our annual First-Year Walk last Thursday, Prof. César Leal of the Sunderman Conservatory of Music spoke beautifully to this enduring mission. Addressing our first-year students, he remarked, “Your journey here at Gettysburg College is not just about acquiring knowledge, but about embracing the diverse array of experiences and perspectives that shape your Historias. It’s about making your Historias, like the education you will receive here, consequential…. Remember that every step you take, every challenge you face, and every success you achieve will contribute to a legacy that goes beyond these walls. We are here to support you, to walk alongside you, and to celebrate the unique and invaluable impact you will make.”
As you embark on this journey of self-discovery, I encourage you to carry Prof. Leal’s words with you. Every moment you experience on this campus shapes your own story, but it also propels our entire community forward—32,000 Gettysburgians strong. Together, let us commit to honoring the Historias of this great College and make this year one of energy, ambition, and togetherness.
Sincerely,
Bob Iuliano
President
