Dear Students,
Happy first day of classes! Today, as we begin a new academic year together, I’d like to extend a warm welcome to our returning students and to our newest Gettysburgians, the Class of 2027.
Last Thursday at our annual First-Year Walk, Political Science Prof. Lindsay Reid—a Gettysburg College graduate of the Class of 2011—delivered a warm and deeply thoughtful address to our first-year students at the National Military Park.
Prof. Reid concluded her remarks by saying, “What do you see? We see friends, classmates, professors, mentors. We see a community recovered from the unthinkable. And we see, far in the distance, a College that has laid the groundwork for the not-yet-imagined. …I know that in four years, the imprint you’ve made on Gettysburg will only add to the lore of this remarkable place.”
I believe in each of you and in your potential to contribute to this campus in extraordinary ways. But more importantly, I believe that if we choose to join together as a community—a College united in this moment of change—there is nothing we cannot accomplish. We will, indeed, realize the not-yet-imagined.
Wishing you the very best in the year ahead!
Sincerely,
Bob Iuliano
President
