Announcing Vice President for Finance and Administration

December 8, 2023

Dear Campus Community,

I am pleased to announce Mike Coyne as Gettysburg College’s new Vice President for Finance and Administration. Mike has served as our Interim Chief Financial Officer since June. During his tenure, Mike has helped the College to navigate this moment of change with vision, integrity, and kindness, and he has quickly become a trusted voice on the President’s Council, within the Finance and Administration Division, and across the campus community.

Prior to Gettysburg, Mike served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Susquehanna University. Throughout his 20 years at the institution, Mike oversaw the finance office, business office, human resources, facilities management and general services, event management, risk and crisis management, the student services center, and dining and bookstore operations.

Mike has also served as Assistant Treasurer and Controller at Elizabethtown College. In this role, he had primary responsibility for annual budgeting and multiyear forecasting, accounting operations, and cash management, as well as accounts payable and student billing, bond financing, and loaning financing and leasing, among other duties.

Mike is widely respected throughout higher education for his sage financial leadership, innovative thinking, and collaborative approach. He was hand-selected as an evaluation team member for the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE) for four separate institutions, and served in a similar capacity for the Pennsylvania Department of Education for an institution petitioning for university status. In addition, Mike is a member of the National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO) and Eastern Association of College and University Business Officers (EACUBO).

A graduate of Johns Hopkins University and Penn State University, Mike’s three decades in higher education were preceded by a transformative career experience at Deloitte & Touche in Baltimore, where he managed audits for commercial enterprises, colleges, and state and local governments.

On behalf of our entire Gettysburg community, please join me in congratulating Mike on his official position here at the College!

Sincerely,

Bob Iuliano
President
