Office of Student Scholarly Engagement

Encouraging students to be active partners in their learning, within and beyond the classroom.

Research travel is dependent on the conditions established by states, countries, the State Department and the Center for Disease Control.

The Office of Student Scholarly Engagement (OSSE) seeks to engage and support students in conducting research and creative pursuits as well as to assist them in navigating the application processes for nationally competitive fellowships and scholarships. The program’s mission is to develop within our students intellectual curiosity, a capacity for contemplating deeper questions, and a commitment to life-long learning.

To this end, the program has as its focus two main functions:

  1. Undergraduate Research & Creative Activity
In addition to providing information about opportunities for students to engage in these kinds of activities, the SSE program, through the Office of the Provost, offers funding and venues for students to present their work.
  2. Fellowship and Scholarship Advising
For students interested in scholarships and post-baccalaureate opportunities, the SSE program encourages and assists students in navigating the application processes for nationally competitive fellowships and scholarships, such as the Fulbright and the Goldwater, emphasizing the value of the application process itself in furthering their intellectual growth and propelling them to greater post-graduate excellence.
